Bear's AOH Football Party
The annual AOH Bear’s Football Party was held November 14 at the Irish American Heritage Center; Bears vs. Vikings. The Bears prevailed and everyone had a great time. The O’Malley brothers, Jim, Kevin and Brendon wish to thank everyone for coming out and having a great time. They also wish to thank the many volunteers who made this great event possible. See you next year!
Charlie Seitz's Firsh Fry at Dugan's
Please join Charlie Seitz for his annual free fish fry at Dugan’s Pub on Sunday, December 5 at 1:00 pm. There will be a cash bar and plenty of fish for your enjoyment. In addition, Charlie is looking for volunteers to help set up the Daley Center Nativity Scene on November 27, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Meet at the Addison/Lincoln Dunkin Donuts at 8am or the Daley Center at 9 am to set-up the Christmas display.
The division will be hosting its annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 11, at St. Margaret Mary’s Activity Center. Dave Suerth is chairing the event and is looking for volunteers to help with this fun and joyful celebration. If you have kids please bring a wrapped present for them because Santa will be handing out gifts. Tickets ($25.00, kids are free) will be on sale at the December meeting. The party set-up begins at 1:00 with mass at 4:00 in the gym followed by the party. Contact Dave at mattsuerth@comcast.net for tickets or if you want to help out. Information will be available at the December meeting.
Soup Kitchen at Our Lady of Lourdes
We have one more important charity event happening in December. For Christmas, December 15 we are seeking donations of Ham cooked and sliced; additionally we are requesting small gifts such as hats and gloves for the homeless. If you can’t make the soup kitchen, drop off food at G&L Tap the night before. And remember, this is a scholarship eligible event so bring the kids.
Charity-Ed Morley
• Four Self Directed donations were picked at the Football Party
• Ask Ed if you want to make a donations
• Fr. McCarthy won the attendance award for the evening
Dues
Div #32 is now accepting dues for 2011. Our yearly dues remain at $50.00 per year. Division dues collected to date in 2010 is over 30 members down from the previous year. It is noteworthy that our Division is required to pay the per capita tax to the AOH National Office for all of them, even though they never paid their dues for this year. Patrick Flaherty or Dave Suerth will be available at the Board or Regular Meetings to collect/record dues payments.
Mail dues to: Ancient Order of Hibernians - Div 32, P.O. Box 300445, Chicago, IL 60630. Members can also mail the dues to Fin. Sec. Patrick Flaherty at 5142 N. Leavitt Ave., Chicago, IL 60625-6829
Executive Board Meetings
All members are invited to attend. The discussion is a little free wheeling but this is where all the planning for our events takes place. Trustees are encouraged to attend. So check us out!
President's Message:
Gentlemen,
Brothers, as we approach the Thanksgiving weekend of food, family and football lets not forget our motto of Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity to take time to pray and help those less fortunate then ourselves. Thanks to all who donated turkeys and their time for our Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen, once again we had an excellent turnout and where able to give plenty of hot meals on what turned into a cold night. That being said we have one more important charity event coming up that exemplifies our dedication to Christian Charity; the annual Christmas Soup Kitchen at Our Lady of Lourdes. Because of the down economy we can expect a big turnout of needy people at this event. Therefore, please consider donating a ham as well as your time for this important charity event. Finally, I want to thank the O'Malley brothers, Jim, Kevin and Brendon who deserve our thanks for a job well done at our Bears game party. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families, see you December 1st.
Your President, Sean O'Dowd
